Emmy Lambert is an audio engineer and composer focused on textural, timbral and spatial explorations in sound.
She has worked in professional audio for nearly twenty years in a variety of technical roles that include live music, theatre and broadcast as well as recording and studio mixing, but she particularly enjoys working with unusual ensembles, spaces and productions and mixing live music spatially. Her artistic practice incorporates acoustic and electronic instruments, field recording, sonification, collaboration and installation, and considers themes of perspective, technology, humanity and the natural world. Her early musical training was oriented around classical music and she currently studies with Gary Carpenter and Sam Salem at the RNCM.
As a composer Emmy has a diverse catalogue of music, from notated pieces for traditional forces to open scores for unusual or contemporary ensembles as well as installations, field recording and sound art pieces. She enjoys close collaboration both with musical performers and artists in other disciplines.
Aside from composing she continues to work in technical production and studio mixing as well doing live/broadcast performances for organisations such as the BBC, ITV, Manchester Camerata and a multitude of bands. She releases electronic music under the moniker Hothouse Discord.
